Do You Have An Endowment Policy?

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Do you have an endowment policy that you hope will eventually pay off your mortgage? If you do there is a very good chance that it might not be sufficient to repay your mortgage at the end of its natural term. If you have been reading the financial press you may already know this.

And if you have recently received a Red Letter from your endowment mortgage lender then you will already certainly know! So what do you do now? You must act promptly to ensure you can meet the potential shortfall when your endowment matures.

That’s the really bad news, but the good news is that it is not too late to do something major about it, but you need to act quickly.

You may be unhappy with the way your policy was sold to you in the first place, and you would be in good company if you were, as hundreds of thousands of people have been and are taking steps against their endowment company. If this applies to you too, you do have a right to make a complaint, providing that you do something about it and complain within three years of receiving your first Red Letter. If you don’t complain within that time, then your complaint may be rejected out of hand, no matter how justified your case may be, hence the urgency.

So who should you complain to? In Great Britain you need to complain to the company or person (perhaps a financial advisor) who sold you the policy in the first place and this may well be different from the company that actually issued the endowment policy. Explain your situation and tell them that you wish to make a formal complaint. They should then give you an official complaints procedure that you should follow.

In Britain you can also discuss the matter with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and you can visit their website at www.citizensadvice.org.uk or you can try the Financial Services Authority, their web site is www.fas.gov.uk/consumer.

Unlike the Citizen’s Advice Bureau the FSA cannot give you one-to-one personal advice, but as the official regulator of all financial services companies within the United Kingdom, they will provide you with detailed fact sheets explaining how to tackle the problem, and a great deal of other information too.

If you reside outside the United Kingdom and suspect you have the same problem, the first thing you must do is to check if the endowment policy you have will be sufficient to cover your mortgage when it matures. If you find that it isn’t, then make sure that you do something about it now before it is too late, and thus ensure that you don’t have a serious problem somewhere further down the line.

Uncommon Wisdom For Success

Winners Don’t Do Different Things. They Do Things Differently
In every field of human endeavor there are winners and there are champions, and there are also losers. What distinguishes the two groups is not the environment in which they operate nor talents they are endowed with. Winners do not necessarily do different things. However, invariably they do things differently.

Winners use unconventional wisdom. Common wisdom breeds conformity consequently things are done the way they have always been done and the same common and sub optimal results are obtained everyday. Greatness always begins with rebelling against commonality. Below are some of the fundamental ways in which the winners differ from the losers.

v Winners do not work hardest on the job
Winners do not work hardest on the job. However, they are not lazy nor down right indolent. In fact they are very diligent. The common man works very hard on the job because he believes that his fruits and his pay are dependent on it. This is true to a certain extend but it is not the whole truth. It is a dangerous half truth that has deceived most people.

There are two major factors that determine your results, your profits, your outcomes or even your pay for that matter. Firstly, and most importantly, it is who you are. The second factor is the effort that you apply on your assignment.

If you give weeds to a dog, at the end of the day you will still have weeds. If you give weeds to a wise man, at the end of the day you will have a fruitful garden. A man that resides at the state house is the president, but a lizard in the state house will never rule the country. The difference between the two is not the environment, but who they are. The one has the capacity which the other one does not have. This also rings true for winners and losers. In the success equation, where you are and what you begin with are not nearly as important as whom you are.

Winners do not work hardest on the job. Instead, they work hardest on themselves. They are cognizant of the self evident fact that a lemon tree will always produce lemons. Working harder on it may produce better quality lemons but will not create oranges. The fact is that most people are getting lemons out of life when what they desire and hanker after are oranges. What is true about the fruit that nature produces is also true for the pay, fruits and profits that people earn.

Winners apply their best efforts towards self development because they understand that to earn more or produce more, they must first become more. Winners constantly ask themselves the question, “How can I become more?” The common man on the other hand constantly vexes himself with the question, “How can I have more?” Both the winner and the commoner have acquisitive mentalities but they differ on the focus and emphasis. The winner seeks to become more as a means to ultimately having more, but the common man works hardest on having more now as an end in itself. Over the long haul, the one who seeks to become more and actually becomes more will become more valuable, and will therefore be in a position to earn more for his efforts.

v Winners do not know more.
Knowledge for the sake of knowledge is the height of vanity. The purpose of knowledge is to guide thought and action. It is important to know what others know, even more especially if they are your competitors. However, winners do not necessarily know more than losers. The trophy for knowing more goes to the professors. However, not all professors are winners. Many educated but derelict professors testify to this. Winners do not necessarily know more, but they excel in internalizing their knowledge into habits. In this way they do not just know more but they become more.

v Winners make things happen. Losers wonder at what happened.

If the story of your life as it is today were a movie, what grade would it be? The common man always lives his life and then looks at it and wonders at what happened. The winner first looks at his life, and then lives it. The winner envisions the future first and then takes deliberate steps towards the future that he has envisioned. He begins by taking a gaze into the future. The winner creates a movie of his desired future in which he is the hero or heroine in his/her mind.

Furthermore, the winner always grapples with the question, “How can I make my future a grade A movie?” The common man on the other hand always wishes he had the benefit of hindsight. The winner continuously plays on his mind the images of the future as he would have it. He reaches into the future before he has arrived at it. He makes things happen and creates his own future. The reason most people live unhappy lives is that they find themselves in circumstances that they did not deliberately create. In other words they live first, and then look at their lives and are not pleased with what they see. The unconventional wisdom that separates winners from losers advocates for seeing the future first, then creating concrete action plans followed by massive actions to make that desire a reality.

This week do not just let things happen to you. See your desired week in your mind’s eye first and then take steps to create it. Do not just seek to have more, but seek to be more and internalize your knowledge into habits.

Proper Diet For Your Dog For A Long and Healthy Life

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

The dietary regimen is an important aspect of survival. The objective of dietary management is to meet the basic nutritional requirements of the individual dog with proper portions of protein, carbohydrates and fat in a well-balanced diet that will promote optimal body weight.

Generally, these dietary regimens are employed to human beings. However, with the growing fondness to dogs, most dog owners and veterinarians recommed that dietary regimen should likewise be implemented on dogs.

Like humans, dogs need the right combination of the basic food groups in order to have a healthy life span. Dogs also need to be regulated on the kinds of foods that they eat or else they would end up being obese as well.

Included in the dog’s dietary regimen are the proper minerals and vitamins. These essential health items should be well incorporated into the dogs daily needs in order to have a healthy body. With poper minerals, and vitamins, dogs will be abel to maintain shiny, healthy-looking coat. For people who want to know how to prepare the right diet for their dogs, here are some tips to guide you through them.

*Meat should not only be the only food incorporated in the dog’s diet.

*Dogs need minerals and vitamins. These are needed to maintain the luster and shine in their coats and to provide them with

healthy gums and teeth.

*Real Meal Treats. It is best for the dog owners to include their dogs in their meal planning. With real food, dogs will be able to generate the needed nutrients their body’s need.

*Mixed Foods. Giving a dog a variety of foods, nutritional value, and texture are the real diet meal dogs really need. So, go ahead and mix the dry food along with the moist food.

*Greens. A well balanced diet for dogs includes green leafy vegtables. Even if dogs are carnivours by nature, they also need the right amount of greens to provide them with additional nutrients that are only available in green leafy foods.

Best of all, dog owners should always consult their dog’s veterinarians especially on things like health and diet supplements for their dogs.

Dogs like humans, should not be fed with junk foods like sugary, sweet, soda. These will only make them fat without the needed nutrients. Stay away from CHOCOLATE, it is considered as poison to your dog as well as your cat.

Questions You Should Ask Before Hiring a Limousine Rental Service

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Limousine rental services have become popular since people are able to enjoy the feeling of being in a very luxurious vehicle, enjoying the condiments provided in and out of the car as well as the warm friendliness of courteous chauffeurs. It is perfect for any occasion and although you do have to pay huge costs for the service, it is still the convenient and stylish way to go for weddings, important business meetings and dates. You do have to ask some important questions so that the whole rental service will be worth the amount you’re paying for.

1. How long has the limousine rental service provider been in business?

You have to check the credibility of the rental service provider first. Ask how long they’ve been in business. Check the condition of the limousines and how many cars they have in their fleet. Ask for proof of insurance for the cars. Are they willing to give you confirmation regarding the specific limo you want to rent? Also check how the service provider maintains their limousines, upgrades their policies and updates their chauffeurs.

2. How good are the chauffeurs?

The chauffeurs should be very qualified and well-trained by the service provider. Ask to see the credentials of the drivers as well as their licenses to ensure that you will have a safe and relaxing trip for the rest of the service. Ask how the chauffeur will cater you to and from your car, how you will meet him and how can you communicate for long waits and different drop-off points. A good chauffeur should be well-mannered, respectful and able to provide you with a smooth ride.

3. What are included in the policy?

The limousine rental service contract should indicate the type of limousine you’re renting, the price for rental which includes all the details regarding payment for the driver, how long the rental service will last, when and where should you meet the driver, fuel, condiments in the car like food and drinks, special features like red carpet, insurance, accidental breakdown, etc. All these should be summed up upon your reservation and the rental service provider should fax, email or call you several hours before rental day to confirm all the stipulations.

4. How do I pay?

The method of payment must be discussed upon completion of the itinerary and total price. You may give a partial down payment before the services and give the balance after. Ask how payment or refund can be done should any problem occur regarding the limousine rental service. Also discuss how refunds can be done if there are any inconsistencies with the agreed plans. Also should any damage be incurred by you, a contingency payment must be settled before.

So whether you’re renting a classic posh white stretch or a hummer limo, make sure that you put everything into writing to avoid any inconsistencies that can jeopardize you financially in the future. As long as you know these four questions, you can be sure to have an excellent limo ride.

Beauty Tips for Women Over 50

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active.

At 50 and older, most adults are still capable of completing most exercises. Exercising can mean taking daily 40 minutes walk with your partner or alone, enjoying exercise videos at home. Botox injections can ease wrinkles in the upper third of the face. Chemical peels are effective in removing fine lines and smoothing skin, especially around the eyes and mouth. Wrinkle fillers can plump up your skin and erase lines.

Women over 50 usually look better with a cream lipsticks rather than a matte or gloss and in a pinch your lipsticks can double as a blush. Lips tend to lose definition and color, and become thinner with age. One of the great makeup tricks for aging skin is using a neutral lip liner to add plumpness with a sheer lipstick to avoid feathering (we like berries and browns). Use a lip liner to help define lips. Try a lip liner whose color is very close to the natural shade of your lips and both line and fill in the lips with this pencil prior to using your lip color. Carry a stash of different lipsticks in daring shades in your purse for different occasions, outfits, and moods. Use makeup to accentuate your positive qualities and make yourself feel great.

Women Over 50 and Beauty Tips

1. Using heavy makeup and powders does not compliment dryer skin.

2. Heavily powdered skin will make your skin look matte and dry.

3. Just as the pigment in our hair changes and it turns grey, the melanin in our skin changes also.

4. Don’t give into the idea that you have to own every new color that is fashionable for a particular season.

5. Use a humidifier. Use moisturizing soaps and lotions.

6. Good nutrition helps the body repair skin.

7.Drinking lots of water helps hydrate skin from the inside out.

8. Use products with SPF 15 or higher, and both UVB and UVA protection.
